Lung development is highly complex and involves diverse interactions between various cell types. Cohen et al (Cell 2018;175:1031-44; http://bit.ly/2GTWm9I sought to further characterize this process using genome-wide single-cell RNA sequencing analysis. The authors generated transcription profiles of more than 50,000 cells present at various time points during lung development and identified interactions between specialized cell types, including alveolar type 2 cells, innate lymphoid cells, and basophils.
