Airway epithelial cells (AECs) provide the first line of defense against foreign antigens and also link the innate and adaptive immune responses present in TH2 immunopathology. To clarify the underlying molecular mechanisms, which remain incompletely understood, Moon et al (Immunity 2018;49:275-87, e5; https://ift.tt/2D3d9DI) assessed the role of AEC-derived colony-stimulating factor 1 (CSF1) in patients with allergic lung inflammation.
