Opioids: Combating Misuse While Properly Caring for Our Patients

Many significant life events that bring joy are fairly predictable in that most of us thought they would occur for us and we had a general idea of when they would occur. These include things such as weddings, the birth of children, graduations, etc. Others, such as those that tend to bring sadness, are also predictable in that we know they will occur, but the general timing is harder to pinpoint, such as the passing of grandparents and other loved ones. There are other occurrences that may or may not happen in one's lifetime; therefore, one cannot be sure of their timing.
