Chronic cough (>8 weeks) is a common presentation to chest clinic. In a proportion of patients, no obvious cause can be found (unexplained chronic cough; UCC). Sensitisation of the cough reflex has been recognised in this condition and novel treatments are aimed at reducing this. Speech therapy is used to treat this condition, and some studies report an overlap of ILO on direct visualisation with laryngoscopy. We sought to describe the prevalence of ILO in a population of patients with UCC referred to our tertiary airways service.Retrospective analysis was undertaken of 61 consecutive patients with UCC who underwent diagnostic challenge laryngoscopy at our centre.
