Rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS) is a malignant neoplasia consisting of embryonic cells that differentiate into skeletal muscle.1,2 Approximately 35.0% of the cases affect the head and neck,3,4 and the histopathological embryonal subtype of the tumor more likely develops in this region.1,5 Before the seventies, treatment often had poor outcome and only 25.0% to 30.0% of children went into remission. However, the use of multiple-agent chemotherapy followed by radiation considerably improved survival rates.
