The submental island flap as a reconstructive alternative in Head and Neck cancer defects in select patient group: our 3-year experience

We present a case series of 11 patients over a 3-year period that had SMIF and compare their outcome with patients that had radial forearm free-flap (RFFF) reconstruction. We find the SMIF to be a reliable alternative in select patient-group such as the elderly or those with significant medical co-morbidities.
