Witchcraft or wizardry? A prospective audit of 650 consecutive frenulotomies performed by one surgeon

Introduction: Restrictive tongue ties may interfere with infant feeding, speech, and weaning. Breast feeding confers significant advantages to both mother and baby. The last decade has seen an increase in the number of infants referred for frenulotomy, usually to improve breast feeding. The procedure remains contentious in medical circles, despite having wide spread acceptance by parents and their advocates. We will report on our prospective audit of650 consecutive lingual frenulotomies performed by one surgeon over 6 years (from 2011 to 2017) (Source: The British Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery)
