The recent article by Suresh et al1 entitled "Management of Patients with Left Ventricular Assist Devices Requiring Teeth Extraction: Is Halting Anticoagulation Appropriate?" was of considerable interest. The article was thought-provoking and informative. Oral-maxillofacial surgeons face an older and more medically complex patient population, and it is inevitable that many of us will encounter patients with mechanical circulatory support (eg, left ventricular assist devices [LVADs]) requiring our surgical care.
