Aspirin desensitization and initiation of high-dose aspirin is an effective means of controlling symptoms in patients with aspirin-exacerbated respiratory disease (AERD). In practice, desensitization is often performed after sinus surgery, although the benefit of this has not been proven. We hypothesized that sinus surgery prior to aspirin desensitization would be associated with less severe aspirin-induced lower respiratory reactions during desensitization.
