Innate immune responses in respiratory mucosa, such as those mediated by airway epithelial cells, likely play pivotal roles in development of type 2 immunity to inhaled allergens. The goal of this project was to investigate the roles for another innate immune cell type, namely airway macrophages, to induce allergic sensitization to pollens by using mouse models.
