Management of isolated mandible fractures remains controversial with highly variable outcomes data and complication rates.1,2 Because of the frequency of mandible fractures, significant research has been devoted to identifying ideal treatment protocols.2 While these studies have been useful in improving the efficacy of mandible fracture treatment, their utility in directing treatment decisions has been limited by a failure to measure and control for fracture severity as a confounding variable.
