Newer Generation Oral Anticoagulants: an Unguided Increase in Popularity

Objectives: Despite the recent and steady rise in the prevalence of newer-generation oral anticoagulants (NGOAs), there is no sufficient protocol or standard of care set for their uses. The primary objective of this study was to determine the prevalence of patients on NGOAs seen at the Tufts University School of Dental Medicine (TUSDM). The secondary objective was to investigate the current precautionary measures implemented when treating patients on NGOAs and postoperative complications associated with their use.
